OVERVIEW
The Cyfac CLM has taken time trial victories in the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta, Gran Prix des Nations, Hawaii Ironman and the Olympic Games. Cyfac bicycles have carried riders to victory in grand tours, classics, and the world road championships. The riders and teams who have ridden Cyfac over the years have ridden the frames painted with another manufacturer's name, such as the Raleighs of Laurent Fignon's Super U team in the late 1980s and Cofidis' MBK bikes in the late 1990s. Our CLM (French for "Contre-La-Montre", meaning "against the clock") is a study in perfection. Developed to meet the needs of the professional cyclist, the CLM correctly positions a rider to meet the race of truth.
Features
Cyfac adopts a traditional seat tube angle to best position a rider to
use cycling-specific muscles. We then relax our head tube angle to get the
necessary short reach and optimal centering of the rider over the bike. While
many believe that a steep seat angle and low frontal area provide the best aero
set-up, Cyfac's intensive study of world class athletes at France's Centre for
Sports Medicine has found that a 5% increase in aerodynamics can be offset by a
15% loss in physiological efficiency. A tremendous amount of effort goes into
reducing aerodynamic drag at the expense of a rider's physiological
performance. We build your bike to race in real conditions, not in a
wind-tunnel.
Cyfac's work at the Center for Sports Medicine has brought together more than 6000 athletes across various cycling disciplines to determine the impact of position on physiological characteristics. A farther forward, tightly hunched-over position employs weaker leg muscles, takes a cyclist out of the normal riding position to which they are best adapted, and can prevent the diaphragm's full extension (and thereby the ability to breath effeciently).
